Wizz Air has taken delivery of its first of 47 A321XLR aircraft, becoming the world’s first operator of this model with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. The airline is the first European low-cost operator of the A321XLR and plans to strengthen its capacity to connect Europe with the Middle East.

First delivery of the A321XLR

Innovative cabin technology

The airlines unveiled that Wizz ‘s A321XLRs are equipped with a new cabin featuring an innovative lighting system. This technology is designed to create a perfect environment for different phases of the flight—from boarding and dining to relaxing and sleeping. The cabin 239 seats in a single-class configuration, elevating the passenger experience to a new level.

More environmentally friendly flights

Airbus reports that the has a remarkable range of up to 4,700 nautical miles, with a 30% reduction in fuel burn per seat compared to older models. This not only contributes to the ‘s cost efficiency but also reduces NOx and noise. At the same time, like all Airbus aircraft, the A321XLR can run on up to 50% , with Airbus aiming for 100% usable SAF by 2030.

Market growth and orders

With over 500 orders already secured for the A321XLR, Airbus says this development demonstrates the strong demand for aircraft with greater range and flexibility. This reflects the global trend, as airlines value flexibility and more capacity to meet growing demands. Wizz pursues this strategy and affirms that sustainable and economical operations can be ensured in line with market .

Founded in May 2004, Wizz Air has quickly become a leading low-cost in . With a clear focus on cost-effective options, the airline currently operates over 230 Family aircraft. Its fleet will continue to grow over the coming years, with nearly 300 more aircraft on order.
