Zeppelin Aviation & Industrial Service proudly presents the latest achievement in the world of airships: the third Zeppelin NT, which will be circling the Lake Constance region to celebrate Europa-Park’s 50th anniversary. This masterpiece of engineering was manufactured to the highest precision standards and relies on sustainable production techniques.
Innovative supporting structure
The supporting structure of the new Zeppelin NT was developed by Zeppelin Aviation & Industrial Service and consists of a combination of aluminum and carbon fiber. With a total weight of approximately 1,100 kg, it combines exceptional lightness with high stability. The structure is designed to withstand the extreme conditions of airship travel.
Precision manufacturing and safety standards
The longitudinal members were welded with the utmost precision from special aluminum profiles in our own workshops. Each component underwent extensive testing to meet the highest safety and quality standards. The joints were designed to withstand not only compressive and tensile stresses, but also considerable bending and torsional moments.
Responsible manufacturing techniques
Zeppelin Aviation & Industrial Service used specialized equipment to achieve the required precision. The challenges of welding the pipe joints and performing three-dimensional measurements were mastered by intensively trained aviation welders. These experts received their training at the company’s own welding school and the associated materials testing campus.
Cooperation and future outlook
In close cooperation with Zeppelin NT and Zeppelin Systems, the company optimized numerous processes, including the inspection of welded assemblies with a 3D scanner and mechanical processing on a hybrid friction stir welding and milling system. These advances reduce the number of transports, improve the CO2 footprint, and minimize risks to the longitudinal members. Continuous development of its own manufacturing techniques ensures that the Zeppelin NT’s supporting structure meets the highest quality standards and operates reliably under extreme conditions.
Over the past few years, Zeppelin Aviation & Industrial Service has established itself as an indispensable partner in the field of airship development. Through continuous innovation and optimization processes, the company ensures that its products offer the highest quality and safety while simultaneously improving environmental friendliness.
