Avolon expands order by 90 Airbus aircraft

Avolon, one of the leading global aircraft finance companies, has placed a significant new order with Airbus. A total of 90 additional aircraft have been ordered, including 15 A330neos and 75 A321neos. This expansion brings the total number of aircraft on order by Avolon to 79 A330neos and 264 A321neos.

Strategic importance of the order

Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon, underscores his company’s strong confidence in the long-term demand for new aircraft with this decision: “This order demonstrates our firm confidence in the long-term need for . Our scale and financial strength enable us to support our airline customers’ expansion and replacement needs well into the next decade.”

He added: “Both the A321neo and the A330neo are in high demand, and we expect this to continue given the long-term growth trend in the industry. We are very pleased to expand and extend our long-term partnership with Airbus through this order.”

Airbus confirms strong partnership

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales at Airbus , also emphasized the importance of this transaction: “Lessing companies like Avolon are excellent indicators of the market. We greatly appreciate Avolon’s expansion of its commitments to the A320 Family and the A330neo so soon after a previous order two years ago.”

He added: “This renewed confirmation demonstrates the high attractiveness of both aircraft types for a broad customer base – they are equipped with state-of-the-art and are among the most efficient aircraft in their class. They cover a wide range of short-, medium-, and long-haul routes.”

Technological highlights of the A330neo

Powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 offers a non-stop range of up to 7,200 nautical miles (approximately 13,300 km). Compared to the previous generation, it reduces fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions, and operating costs by approximately 25%.

The A330neo also features Airbus’ award-winning Airspace , which provides a unique passenger experience with a high level of comfort through more personal space, larger overhead bins, and a new lighting system. The design also features a modern look and provides access to advanced in- entertainment systems and enhanced connectivity.

The efficient wide-body jet – The A321neo

The A321neo is the largest member of the popular family and boasts outstanding range and performance characteristics. Thanks to new engine generations and aerodynamic Sharklets, the model achieves a noise reduction of around 50% and fuel consumption savings of over 20%. This corresponds to a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to older . In addition to its efficiency, the world’s widest single-aisle also offers a high level of passenger comfort.

Focus on sustainability – use of sustainable fuels

Both in production and operation, the models are already designed for the use of sustainable fuels (). Current aircraft can already operate with up to 50% . The long-term plan is to increase this share to 100% by 2030 – a significant contribution to reducing the ecological footprint of transport.
