Vietnam Airlines is celebrating 20 years of direct flights between Germany and Vietnam. It is the only airline offering daily non-stop flights from Frankfurt to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Starting in fall 2024, flights from Munich will also be added to the schedule. This will further strengthen the airline’s presence in the German market.
Historical development of Vietnam Airlines
Vietnam Airlines began its journey in 1956 with the establishment of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam. It began with irregular domestic flights and a small fleet. In 1993, it was officially incorporated as a state-owned aviation carrier. In 1996, it merged with 20 other companies to form the current public company, laying the foundation for international growth.
Growth and innovation
Over the years, Vietnam Airlines has invested significantly in modernizing its fleet. Today, it serves the route between Germany and Vietnam with modern Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The airline is the only one offering non-stop flights from Germany, particularly from Frankfurt, to Vietnam, underscoring the importance of the German market.
Extended flight connections
Starting in fall 2024, Vietnam Airlines will expand its service to include flights from Munich. The 2025 summer schedule will include weekly flights from Munich to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, significantly expanding its flight offerings. This expansion of routes will enable Vietnam Airlines to reach even more passengers and improve access to key Asian markets.
Proud of 20 years of success
The management of Vietnam Airlines is proud of the successes achieved in the German market over the past two decades. Since the launch of the first flights, frequencies have steadily increased; Germany is now one of the airline’s most important international markets with 17 weekly flights. The company expresses its gratitude to its partners and passengers, who have made a significant contribution to this success.
Vietnam Airlines is a leading airline in Asia, offering a broad network of domestic and international connections. With one of the most modern fleets in the world, the company focuses on innovation and quality in air travel to provide its passengers with a first-class travel experience.
