TUM and Lufthansa plan innovation center in Munich

The Lufthansa Group, the Technical University of Munich (TUM), and Munich Airport intend to establish the TUM Convergence Center. The new research location will be located on the LabCampus at Munich Airport and offers potential for innovative collaboration in the fields of aviation, mobility, robotics, and security.

Bavaria’s Minister of Science, Markus Blume, and Finance Minister, Albert Füracker, were present at the signing of a letter of intent. Representatives of the participating organizations, including TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann, Joerg Eberhart of the Lufthansa Group, and Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, confirmed their plans to establish a collaboration and innovation hub. The new building complex, which occupies approximately 20,400 square meters on the LabCampus, is intended to create an inclusive environment for students and business stakeholders.
