Robinson is upgrading its helicopter cockpits with new G500H TXi displays from Garmin. These displays bring touchscreen capability to the popular G500H series and are available as an option for the R44 and R66 helicopters.
They also clearly present PFD/MFD information on a single screen. These enhanced displays feature higher resolution and interface with Garmin’s GTN 6XX/7XX series GPS touchscreens. The GDU (Garmin Display Unit) 1060 TXi features a 10.6-inch display, leaving ample space within the Robinson G500H’s large console—for instance, to accommodate a Garmin GTN 6XX/7XX unit and a Genesys SAS/Autopilot.
PFD and Avionics: Adapted for Robinson
The GDU 700L TXi is a seven-inch display integrated into Robinson’s new compact console, which also accommodates a Garmin GTN 6XX unit. This landscape-oriented format was developed specifically for Robinson and is designed to enable the pilot to toggle between full-screen PFD and map modes. According to Robinson Helicopters, this compact design eliminates the need for a separate console for the GTN GPS unit positioned in front of the pilot.
The same accessories are available for the new TXi displays as for the non-touch G500H variant. At the ongoing Heli-Expo in Las Vegas, Robinson is showcasing an R66 equipped with the Garmin 1060 TXi, as well as an R44 Raven II helicopter (pictured) featuring the Garmin 700L TXi. Both aircraft are also equipped with a Genesys SAS/autopilot system.
