RUAG MRO International has successfully completed the first installation in Europe of the Gogo AVANCE L5 system on a Dassault Falcon F900DX. The upgrade was carried out during the aircraft’s 2C inspection at RUAG’s authorized service center in Geneva, in accordance with the standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Cabin Upgrade with New Technology

RUAG carried out the installation of the Gogo AVANCE L5 system based on a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) developed by Dassault Falcon Jet Corporation and validated by EASA specifically for this project. “Our Falcon customer desired complete and seamless connectivity at all times for a wide range of business and entertainment applications across various devices. The Gogo AVANCE L5 system is the solution that meets these high expectations,” says Stephan Woodtli, General Manager of the Agno site at RUAG MRO International. The avionics specialists in Lugano-Agno and the authorized Dassault Service Center in Geneva executed this “one-stop shop” project jointly.

The connectivity and communications platform is lightweight and features an advanced 802.11ac dual-band router (5 GHz & 2.4 GHz) that maximizes bandwidth, as well as dynamic, multi-carrier-capable data and voice management and the ability to connect via Gogo Biz/Gogo Biz 4G, Iridium, Inmarsat SwiftBroadband, and Inmarsat Jet ConneX.

The installation of the GoGo Avance L5 system was part of a broader and more complex aircraft cabin upgrade aimed at modernization and enhanced comfort. The customer opted for a complete cabin interior refurbishment featuring wood, leather, and carpeting, which also included the integration of a state-of-the-art In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system. As part of the associated improvements to the cabin’s sound and thermal insulation, RUAG installed an additional STC – becoming the first provider in Europe to do so.
