In exclusive collaboration with Atlas Air Service AG, FTI Engineering Network GmbH has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the retrofit of all business jets in the Cessna Citation CJ family with new transponder technology.
According to aviation authority regulations, all aircraft must in the future be actively trackable using GPS-based flight data. The retrofit to the airspace surveillance technology “Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast” (ADS-B) is mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) by mid-2020.
The ADS-B retrofit is already underway.
“We are now offering this corresponding ADS-B Out retrofit – including EASA approval and, in the future, FAA approval as well – to all owners of CJ1+, CJ2+, and CJ3 jets equipped with ProLine 21 avionics worldwide,” says Gregor Bremer, Director of Maintenance at Atlas Air Service. “We are particularly proud of this exclusive service, which is available at our locations in Bremen, Paderborn, and Augsburg. We have already equipped the first customer aircraft with this new technology.” Furthermore, Atlas Air Service also provides ADS-B Out modification solutions for all other aircraft on its maintenance list. In some cases, this is accomplished using manufacturer Service Bulletins (SBs) or Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) from third-party providers.
Atlas Air Service AG is a second-generation family business specializing in the maintenance, sales, and management of business jets.
