Cessna plans to equip the Excel and Citation XLS business jets with the Garmin International G5000 avionics system. The integrated flight deck is now available for these aircraft.
The G5000 modernizes the cockpit, replaces obsolete technology, and thereby meets regulatory requirements. Operating costs are also expected to decrease, while pilot situational awareness increases. This is achieved through three widescreen displays, the screens of which can be split. The touch displays present georeferenced Garmin SafeTaxi airport diagrams.
Excel: New Feature with Avionics
With the G5000, the Cessna Excel also receives – for the first time – an emergency descent mode integrated into the autopilot, which activates automatically in the event of a loss of cabin pressure. Furthermore, the inclusion of PBN/RNP 0.3 and LPV/APV approach capabilities within the avionics enables lower approach minimums at airports. This avionics upgrade is available at Cessna Service Centers or through Garmin.
