United Airlines expands nonstop service across the Pacific

United Airlines announces a comprehensive expansion of its flight offerings across the Pacific. Starting this fall, the airline plans to launch new routes to Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, direct flights from San Francisco to Adelaide will begin in December. San Francisco is cementing its role as a major hub.

Unied Airlines plans new routes to Asia

United Airlines plans to offer daily flights from Hong Kong to Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City starting this fall, subject to government approval. The new route is part of a larger expansion of its flight offerings across the Pacific. Connections to Hong Kong already exist from San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Expansion to Australia

Starting December 11, United Airlines will offer a direct flight from San Francisco to Adelaide, expanding its service to Australia to four cities. In addition to Adelaide, the airline already serves Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne. The new flight to Adelaide will operate three times a week.

United Airlines demonstrates increased commitment to the Philippines

Also planned is a doubling of flights from San Francisco to Manila starting October 25. This will expand service to a total of 32 cities in the Pacific region, four times more than any other US carrier. Last year alone, United carried approximately six million passengers in this region.

San Francisco as a central hub

With the expansion of flight offerings, San Francisco’s importance as a hub is growing. United expects a 20 percent increase in flights this year compared to last year, exceeding the previous record set in 2019 by 6 percent. United plans to invest approximately $2.6 billion through 2029 to modernize San Francisco Airport.

The airline operates approximately 500 flights daily to or from 150 destinations outside the United States.
