Airbus increases revenue and orders in the first quarter of 2025

At Airbus Defence and , order intake increased by €2.6 billion. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury highlighted the strong momentum across the business segments, both platforms and services. Revenues increased by 11% to €2.7 billion, driven by higher volumes across all business areas.

Challenges in the supply chain

Production ramp-up progressed according to plan, but deliveries are challenging due to specific supply chain issues, particularly at Spirit AeroSystems. Airbus remains committed to increasing the A320 Family production plan to 75 aircraft per month by 2027. Currently, A330 production is maintained at a stable monthly level.

Airbus Helicopters: Innovation in the market

Airbus Helicopters recorded 100 net orders, a significant improvement compared to 63 units in the previous year. Revenue increased by 10% to €1.6 billion. The new H140 multi-role was launched in March, generating strong market interest and receiving initial orders, reflecting solid program and service growth.

Constructive discussions about the Airbus A400M

Within the framework of the A400M program, Airbus continues to engage in constructive discussions with the launch nations and OCCAR regarding the production plan. Despite unclear details regarding aviation orders, Airbus remains committed to carefully assessing the impact on manufacturing activities. Technical qualifications and associated costs have been maintained at a stable level to date.

Focus on research and development

€673 million was invested in self-financed research and development, a decrease compared to €743 million in the same period of the previous year. This reflects a targeted prioritization of projects and efficiency improvements. At the same time, consolidated EBIT amounted to €473 million, compared to €609 million in 2024, impacted by net adjustments of €151 million.

Solid financial prospects

The quarterly financial results show free cash flow of -310 million euros before customer financing, reflecting the planned inventory build-up for market dynamics. Total free cash flow is -296 million euros, with a solid cash position of 26.1 billion euros. Airbus plans to deliver approximately 820 commercial aircraft in 2025 and targets EBIT of approximately 7.0 billion euros and free cash flow before customer financing of approximately 4.5 billion euros.
