EVA AIR flies non-stop from Munich Airport to Taipei

EVA AIR and Munich Airport celebrated the first long-haul flight with the new Dreamliner and the fourth generation of Premium Economy Class on May 17. The event also marked the 33rd anniversary of both success stories: the commissioning of Munich Airport and the introduction of Premium Economy Class by EVA AIR.

An innovative concept becomes the standard

EVA AIR was the first airline in the world to introduce Premium Economy Class in 1992, providing a more comfortable travel experience for passengers who needed more legroom than in Economy Class but couldn’t afford Business Class. This concept, then known as Evergreen Deluxe Class, quickly caught on in the airline industry and is now an industry standard. The introduction of this class reflected EVA AIR’s pioneering spirit, and the airline has continuously developed its Premium Economy Class since then.

EVA AIR and Munich Airport: A historic connection

May 17 is a symbolic date for EVA AIR and Munich Airport. In 1992, the airport began operations on schedule and became one of Europe’s most important air traffic hubs. EVA AIR commemorated this date in 2025 with a special event to celebrate the inaugural flight of its new long-haul Dreamliner service from Munich to Taipei. EVA AIR is thus once again driving forward its development in long-haul flights and contributing to strengthening Munich Airport’s position as a premium hub.
