Van Bebber, who has led the airport’s operations since 2020, has achieved significant success in the post-pandemic recovery and made significant contributions to economic stability.
Successful term of office for Ludger van Bebber
Ludger van Bebber was appointed Managing Director of Dortmund Airport in 2020 and can look back on a successful term. Under his leadership, the airport recovered faster than many others from the slump caused by the corona pandemic. When he took office, he formulated the goal of quickly returning the airport to previous traffic levels, which he succeeded in doing. In addition, under his leadership, the airport achieved new passenger records, although the challenges of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine continued.
Improvement of the economic situation
During van Bebber’s term of office, Dortmund Airport was also able to significantly improve its economic situation. Sales rose continuously and the annual result was also positive. A significant success was the clarification of the long-standing approval issue regarding the approval of air traffic in the late evening hours. This issue, which had been unresolved since 2010, was successfully resolved under van Bebber’s leadership.
Recognition by the Supervisory Board
Ulrich Jaeger, DSW21 transport director and chairman of the airport’s supervisory board, was satisfied with the contract extension. He noted that van Bebber’s excellent work made a significant contribution to Dortmund Airport‘s faster and better recovery from the crisis. A new passenger record was set in 2023, and in 2024 the airport broke the sound barrier of three million passengers for the first time.
Future prospects
Van Bebber expressed his joy about the extension of his contract and his willingness to take on the challenges ahead. He sees the positive development of the airport as motivation to continue to contribute to growth and stability. The past few years have shown that strategic leadership and specific commitment can lead to significant successes even in times of crisis.
